TEC STRESS ON YOUNG CATHOLIC MORAL COURAGE THROUGH SMALL CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES
The comprehensive and sustainable Catechism teachings,
Pastoral approach towards young people living in a rapidly changing World through the Small Christian
Communities will help Tanzania young Catholics to discover their
vocational path.
The call was made by the National Youth Coordinator of Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) Rev. Fr Liberatus Kadio during the seminar held at TEC Kurasini Center and attended by leaders representing various Apostolic Agencies.
Fr Kadio said that through Small Christian Communities young
Catholics will be encouraged and influenced by older Christian
mentors to encourage them discern what secular vocations they are called to
pursue.
"The environment
in which young people live in today's World is not friendly. Yet young people
are consistently the least likely group which participates in small Christian
communities. We must use small Christian communities to nurture and encourage
the vocation of those called to a list of missionary discipleship through their
daily life. We must never underestimate the power of our young people,” he
said.
Addressing external
challenges contributing to the adversity of youth-facing problems, Fr Kadio
appealed that lack of ongoing and in depth catechetical sessions, little
involvement of the clergy and the laity leaders in youth related matters and
lack of young men and women who live a true experience of the gospel life are
some factors broaden the challenges.
"Young people now
appreciate material things more than humanity, the only thing that concerns and
bothers the young person is having a good house, car and money. When they find
it all, they don’t bother to live the purity and beauty of the Catholic
culture. We must use small Christian communities to help young people to
realize the fact that a better world can be built also as a result of their
efforts as they feel grateful for the ability to freely profess their faith,”
He added.
