Pope Francis received Monday in audience in the Vatican Apostolic Palace, the president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, His Excellency Joseph Kabila, who subsequently met with His Excellency Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, secretary for Relations with States. In a statement, the Holy See's Press Office said during the "cordial discussions,"  the good relations between the Holy See and the Democratic Republic of the Congo were evoked, "with particular reference to the important contribution of the Catholic Church in the life of the nation, with its institutions in the educational, social and healthcare spheres, as well as in development and the reduction of poverty. In this context, mutual satisfaction was expressed for the signing of the framework Agreement between the Holy See and the State, which took place on 20 May this year." In a bid to mark this extraordinary year of mercy, the Catholic Dioceses of Kenya nad the Catholic University of Eastern Africa conducted a program to empower 11 Bishops and more than 70 Priests to be more pastoral in administering the sacrament of penance. MAHAKAMA ya Hakimu Mkazi Bukoba mkoani Kagera imewahukumu kifungo cha maisha watu watatu kwa makosa ya kula njama na kuchoma makanisa mbalimbali mkoani hapa. Mwendesha Mashtaka wa Serikali, Emmanuel Manyere alisema licha ya hukumu hiyo, bado watu hao watatu wanakabiliwa na kesi ya kukata makoromeo na mauaji ya watu 16 ambayo inaendelea katika Mahakama Kuu, Kanda ya Bukoba. Manyere alisema watu hao watatu ambao ni Allyu Dauda, Rashid Mzee na Ngesela Keya walifikishwa katika Mahakama ya Hakimu Mkazi, mbele ya Hakimu Mkazi wa Bukoba, Victor Biambo. Alisema washtakiwa hao kwa pamoja wamekutwa na hatia ya kula njama na kuchoma makanisa 16 ya madhehebu mbalimbali mkoani hapa.
